Do it Different!

If you do what you've always done, you'll get what you've always got.

So, to improve the coming year's Internet home work income business, I've decided to change the way I do a number of things.

The biggest time-waster is email. Yes, essential, I know, but still a killer.

So I'm currently doing the unthinkable - cancelling subscriptions to ezines. The good, the bad and the ugly. Unless they are ESSENTIAL, they're going.

I can always resubscribe, but right now, it's taking days to unsub - imagine how much time I'll recover when the dust settles!

Internet Home Work Income Business

Painting my daughter's bedroom wall yesterday, I was reminded of that old movie of a decade or so ago, The Karate Kid.

The old Master has the kid (who wants to be a karate champion) painting his fence and polishing his car.

"What has that to do with karate?" asks the kid. "You're just exploiting me."

He finally discovers that the painting and polishing strokes are actually the same as the karate moves that will win him tournaments.

A little like earning an Internet home work income business.

How much of a job have you done if you stop after 20 or even 100 strokes of the paintbrush? 10% of the wall?

No. You need to keep brushing until the wall is finished.

Translation: You have to keep doing the basics (at least) until the income from your home based business at least matches your goals.

Repeat after me: "Yes Master."

If you're unclear about how to "brush", get the free download at

Home Work Suffers

Tiny software changes can sometimes throw you out completely.

Software I've been using since 1996 has suddenly stopped working. And I can find updates or alternatives nowhere on the Net.

Which completely interferes with a larger program that uses that little compression utility to start its whole sophisticated routine.

Unfortunately, it's the default for the big program. Could now takes weeks to rejig and get it back online.

Lesson: when your business depends on something, redundant systems may NOT be overkill after all!

Tsunami Impacts

At latest count 30,000 people and unknown numbers of animals have died in the tsunami/earthquake disaster in the Indian Ocean.

Perhaps our focus on clean water supplies for those still living will help reduce further loss of life.

And on recovery of shattered lives - the scope for new life, rather than what has been lost.

Internet Home Work Income Business Stops

And no, it's not just because of Christmas - although that's a big part of it.

No ... sometimes the poor old computers get tired, too. And refuse to take aboard any more 'stuff'.

Time to actually put aside time for them. A complete maintenance check and fix, clean out or rearrange files, and generally sweep and scrub and patch wherever it's needed.

Already, things that have been struggling are showing new signs of life!

Online Home Business Discipline

Familiarity, they say, makes you careless. And they're right.

I've been optimizing web pages for search engines for some time now - nothing super smart, just tradesman-like stuff that should score solidly and never be affected by the algorithm changes.

Or so I thought.

I've been working with Site Build-It again this week - and boy! - has it sharpened me up!

My 'near-enough' pages have failed dismally. The 'Analyze It' tool - just one of dozens included in the package - is worth its weight in gold for anyone trying to earn an Internet income from a home based business.

Home Business a Technology Hostage

Amazing how little technical hiccups can derail the grandest plans.

It was a 20 cent O-ring in the space shuttle; now it's a refusal of standard HTML to allow a page to display properly.

Spent most of yesterday trying to get Adsense to display below a signup box, but it insists on displaying beside the box - which puts it off the page.

So far, it's winning. But the other pages WILL go up!

The biggest obstacle in Your Internet Home Work Income Business

Listening to a a teleconference of people intent on building their Internet home work income business, one factor became quite clear:

The No.1 obstacle they faced as a group, was themselves!

And a common comment was: "But I'm back on track. Again"

Sounds a bit like a 12-step recovery program meeting. In reverse.

Like I make a big point of at Online Home Based Business - the No. 1 key to success is your own mindset.

Work on it before you even think about 'what am I gonna sell' and all the other 'priorities'.

Fresh blood

Sometimes a break can work wonders for your Internet home work income business.

Had to go interstate yesterday, so took the bus. Lots of time to meditate, think, do nothing.

Just one realization was the operating pattern of someone I've been doing business with online.

I thought he had a good business, but suddenly I realized how simple, but sophisticated, his pattern really is.

New income streams coming up!

Home Business Beavers and LilyWalkers

One way of boosting your home business income on the Internet is to leverage the work of other people.

So yesterday I spent some time checking what articles are available for a new site I'm building - and I was amazed at how industrious some people are.

Several people's work appeared on just about every site I visited - not just once, but 10 or 20 times.

Their work is good, and their commitment is obvious.

The massive action they've taken will surely bring them massive results.

Mmmm. Lesson there, folks!

Perceptions Pay

When you run a home business, particularly earning income from the Internet, it's easy to get skewed so you see only your own point of view.

Pause a moment next time you make - or attempt to make - a transaction on the Net. And observe your own reactions.

My anti-spyware saga (yes, it still continues!) is a case in point.

One company has been upfront and straight-forward. The other has been deceitful and misleading (they'd probably call it 'smart').

It's the taste that's left in your mouth that governs how much extra business each will get.

How does your home business taste?

Home Income Blockers

Hard to make Internet income from home when you can't access the Web, isn't it?

Well - make that NEW income from home.

The spyware saga continues - despite installing top-line anti-spyware programs and using them, the beasts keep reinstalling themselves each time I reboot my computer. And corrupting my Internet connection each time.

Thank goodness for the home business setups that are already out there, running on autopilot.

Spyware a Real Home Business Income Threat

When you work on the Internet at home, your computer and your Net connection are your lifelines.

Anything that interferes with either costs serious downtime - not to mention stress.

Yesterday - despite precautions - I was taken out by spyware. This morning my ISP was down.

My answer to yesterday is at Online Home Based Business Info. What I found may save YOUR economic life. The plague is real, and growing like wildfire.

Today's answer was actually beneficial - I actually caught up with the Nitro Incubator webcast I'd downloaded but hadn't had time to listen to. That certainly helped!

Dangerous Landing Zones

An 'expert' emailed me this morning, to discuss how to build landing pages. At least, he said he was an expert.

For anyone trying to earn Internet income from their home work business, such offers are often intriguing.

He's obviously trying to get me to subscribe to something, but the 'how to' angle is neat enough for me to bite.

And you know - his masthead/header graphic filled the top third of the screen, a line of Adwords the next third, and just peeping above the Taskbar was what may have been a subscribe box.

Underneath - yes, I did scroll - was half the CanSpam Act.

Riveting stuff. Wonder why I didn't subscribe?

At least this type of landing page works!

How Scalable is Your Home Business?

I recently built some mini-sites designed to grow my passive home business income.

The exercise reinforced the lessons of scalability and preparation.

Or in real terms - it takes just as much work to build a low potential business as it does to build a high potential business.

Getting the web site online is only one tiny element. It's all the foundational research and setting up that takes the important time.

And then, of course, comes promotion. Among other things.

An ounce more work at the beginning can sure save pounds of work later on.

Well, that's how they're issuing the gifts. If you're serious about building your home based income, you'll pick up some very valuable tools and info for nothing.

Meaty Home Business Webcasts with a Kick in the Tail

One of the best value home business trainings I've come across is the free monthly series put on by Kevin Wilke and Matt Gill.

The next one is tomorrow, and it's likely to be a doozy - bang on target for anyone interested in earning income from a home based business.

Their general format is 90 minutes of full-on training, with a minute or so at the end offering a (usually amazing) deal on whatever product the training is based on.

I particularly appreciate the fact that they present it on a webcast - you listen on your computer - so you don't get slugged with heavy long-distance phone charges.

The only catch - you have to register to get access to the live call and the recorded version. Cheap at half the price.

Where will your home business be in 3 months?

If you don't have a clear idea of what your home business will look like in 3 months or a year from now, you could be in trouble already.

Contrary to what most people tell you, creating an income on the Internet - or any home based business - starts in one place, and one place only.

And that's in your mind.

There's a good discussion of this vital skill in Part 1 of the free e-course available at Online-Home-Based-Business.info
